We're down in the ditch again!

On August 16 2008 we continued where we left off with our clean-up of Vastern Ditch. During the Reading Rescue weekend back in March we worked with Caversham GLOBE to clear the ditch of litter - this time we had a go at clearing the main obstructions to get the ditch flowing again.

Here's Teresa clearing some of the debris from the ditch.

Dave from Reading Borough Council and Mary from the Bell Tower Community Association are busy clearing the same area. We also moved all those logs aside to help the flow.

David is busy getting rid of some overhanging willow branches by the entrance to the culvert.

That's better - we can see the ditch properly now...

...and the culvert's free-flowing again at last.
